The hunt for Miss Uganda 2023 started off with the regional tours and West Nile was graced for the opening Search which took place from the 9th to 11th November at Hotel Le Confidentiel in Arua.
The 24 year old Jackie Celine Asibazuyo was crowned Miss Uganda West Nile region beating off close competition from Akello Rachel Sarah (23years) and Driciru Phionah (25years) who were the first runners up and second runners up consecutively.
Jackie Celine a Lugbara by tribe managed to catch the eyes of the judges with her character and personality expression which suits better with this year’s theme of ‘BEAUTY BEYOND LOOKS’.
Speaking on the criteria which led to Jackie Celine being crowned the Miss Uganda West Nile, Brenda Nanyonjo explained how the come up with winner on the regional level.
“At regional level, we basically do interviews from the contestants and Jackie’s character and personality were outstanding in relation to our theme that is Beauty beyond looks” said Brenda Nanyonjo
The judges panel had Phionah Biizu who was Miss Uganda 2012, Petronela Acen the reigning Miss Uganda North and Letio Christine the Miss Uganda Madi 2018 alongside Brenda Nanyonjo.
The search for Miss Uganda continues in the Northern region from 12th-14th January in Gulu before going to the Western Region from 20th-22nd January in Fortportal.
The 2023 Miss Uganda series are a reality TV show and they are aired on Makula TV at 8:50 pm.
