Today 25th January 2023 would have seen the late singer Moses Ssekibogo aka Radio turn 38 years old.
The Goodlyf singer however unfortunately passed away in 2018 aged 33.
This was after a bar brawl in Entebbe on the 22nd of Jan 2018.
Radio eventually died on the 1st of February 2018.
Since then, week between his birthday 25th Jan to his death 1st Feb has been dubbed the Radio week in his memory.
Many music fans and fellow artists all agree that Radio is an undisputed legend.
The Neera singer was without a doubt the greatest writer, lyricist amd vocalist of his era.
Radio is even likened to the likes of Prince Paul Job Kafeero who is touted as the greatest Ugandan song writer.
However music critic Eddie Sendi doesn’t think Radio deserves the legendary status.
Sendi said that Radio doesn’t tick some of the boxes required to be called a legend.
He added that despite Radio being massively talented, the last 5 years of his life were so chaotic.
“In terms of discipline, charity, legacy and the artists brought on the scene, Radio clicked some of these dots but he didn’t in others. The last 5 years of his life were chaotic and full of fights and unbecoming behavior. It’s a topic I don’t want to delve into much because my culture doesn’t allow me to speak about the dead. However, he was a very talented musician and young man but he doesn’t qualify to be called a legend,” said Sendi.
This however did not go well down with some people.
They accused Sendi of disrespect and argued Radio is a legend hands down.
